Kalamazoo, MI - The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost two games to Adrian on Sunday afternoon 7-5 and 2-1. The two losses move the team's record to 20-16 overall, and 15-9 in league play while Adrian at least clinched a share of the regular season MIAA championship today.

In game one Kalamazoo put two runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth off the bats of Carter Chandler and Joey Aliotta. Adrian would tie the game 2-2 but in the bottom of the fifth and sixth Kalamazoo got RBIs from Alex Fultz and Ian Kobernick to give them a 5-2 lead heading into the top of the seventh.

The wheels really fell off for the Hornets in the top of the seventh. With a three run lead and a chance to put Adrian away, Kalamazoo surrendered five runs and gave the game back to the Bulldogs.

Nic Janssen had a solid start going 5.1 innings and only giving up two earned runs, but you could not say Kalamazoo received solid pitching from its relievers.

In game two all of the offensive damage by both teams was done in the first inning. Adrian put up two runs and Kalamazoo put up one.

Adam McDowell was great off the mound for Kalamazoo, throwing a complete game and only giving up two earned runs on three hits. Nate Donovan had a strong game going 2-for-3 from the plate.

Kalamazoo found itself in the bottom of the seventh with the tying run on second and the winning run on third with two outs but despite Kobernick hitting a ball all the way to the warning track they couldn't find that second run.

Kalamazoo looks to hold onto second place in the MIAA when it plays Friday, May 2 at Trine.
