Three Hornets earn All-MIAA Baseball honors

Three members of the Kalamazoo College baseball team earned All-MIAA honors as announced by the league on Wednesday.

Jack Clark was an All-MIAA First Team selection while Ian Kobernick and Ryan Orr were named to the Second Team.

Clark, a sophomore from Ann Arbor, Mich. (Skyline HS), was selected as the All-MIAA First Team third baseman after hitting .375 in conference play. Overall, Clark is hitting .376 with eight doubles, one triple and 19 RBIs. 

Kobernick, a sophomore from Huntington Woods, Mich. (Berkley HS), was selected as an All-MIAA Second Team outfielder while hitting .383 in conference play. Overall, Kobernick is hitting .393 with 14 doubles, two home runs and 26 RBIs. Kobernick also has a 19-game hitting streak heading into the conference tournament. 

Orr, a freshman from DeWitt, Mich. (Bath HS), was selected as an All-MIAA Second Team pitcher and is the only freshman on this year's All-MIAA teams. Orr was 5-2 in the MIAA with two saves while leading the league with five complete games. He ranked second in conference play with a 2.20 earned run average and was second in innings pitched (49.0). Overall, Orr is 7-2 with two saves with a 2.03 ERA in 62.0 innings pitched.

Kalamazoo College is currently 20-20, tying a school record for wins in a season, and is making its second consecutive MIAA Tournament appearance on Wednesday at Adrian. The Hornets tied for third in the MIAA regular season with a 15-13 league record, the program's best finish in the standings in the last 25 years.
