ADRIAN, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost 3-2 to Adrian College in the opening game of the MIAA Tournament on Wednesday.

Kalamazoo scored two runs in the first inning, but could not get a runner past second base the rest of the game. Scott Devine doubled in the first to drive in Ian Kobernick while a Carter Chandler groundout drove in Jack Clark for the second run.

A leadoff walk in the fourth followed by a pair of singles led to Adrian's first run of the game.

After a strikeout to start the bottom of the sixth, Adrian hit back-to-back home runs to left field to take the 3-2 lead, and Kalamazoo was unable to mount any threat over the final three innings.

Ryan Orr (7-3) took the loss on the mound for the Hornets, giving up five hits in eight innings with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Kalamazoo will face Calvin College in an elimination game on Thursday at 3 p.m. at Adrian. The Knights lost to Hope 7-6 this afternoon. The winner will face the loser of the Adrian/Hope game Thursday night at 6 p.m.
