Ryan Orr selected to Northwoods League All-Star Team

Kalamazoo College's Ryan Orr has been selected to play in the 2015 Northwoods League All-Star Game. Orr is a pitcher on the Kenosha Kingfish and will join the South Team in the game Tuesday, July 21 at 7:05 p.m. (CST) at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. He is one of only two NCAA Division III players on either All-Star Team, and the first Kalamazoo College and MIAA player ever to earn this honor.

Orr helped the Kingfish win the first half with a 23-13 record. The team is 10-3 in the second half and still in first place.

Orr has appeared in 18 games this summer with a 2-0 record and 1.29 earned run average. He also had three saves in 34.2 innings pitched while striking out 26 and walking only eight.

"This is a huge honor for Ryan and I am extremely proud of him," Kalamazoo Head Coach Mike Ott said. The Northwoods League is one of the most prestigious summer collegiate leagues in the country and for him to do what he has done and make a name for himself on the national stage is a rarity and really showcases what Division Three players can do. This is a huge honor for him, his family and our program."

"The history of the league showcases what type of players play in this league year in and year out and for Ryan to be amongst the best of that group showcases how special his ability is. He also continues to assist us in putting our program on the national scene!"

The Northwoods League is a collegiate summer baseball league comprising teams of the top college players from North America and beyond. All players in the league must have NCAA eligibility remaining in order to participate. Players are not paid, so as to maintain their college eligibility.
