ADRIAN, Mich. –Back on Adrian College's campus Sunday afternoon due to weather, the Kalamazoo College baseball team came away with a doubleheader split and a split of the four-game series as a whole.

Adrian took game one 4-3, while Kalamazoo took game two 7-6.

Game One

After Adrian took a 2-0 lead scoring a run in both the top of the first and second, the Hornets got themselves on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Brett Garwood grounded into a fielder's choice driving in Mitchell VanKoevering cutting the Bulldog lead to 2-1.

Adrian added a run in the fifth and looked to close out the game in the bottom of the seventh, but Kalamazoo had other plans. Jack Clark and VanKoevering each drove in a run with RBI singles tying the game and sending it to extras.

Despite Kalamazoo outhitting Adrian 8-5, the Bulldogs tacked on a run in the top of the eighth and closed out the game in the bottom half, taking the first game of the doubleheader.

Game Two

In a game that looked as if it would be dominated by pitching early on, Kalamazoo came away with a walk-off win to end the four-game series.

The Hornets struck first in the bottom of the third scoring two runs and they carried the lead until the top of the 6th.

After the Bulldogs tied the game up, Kalamazoo countered with four runs of its own in the bottom of the sixth, and stood just three outs away from a series split.

Adrian had other plans, though, as the Bulldogs rallied for four runs in the top of the 7th.

But Kalamazoo showed its resiliency and wasn't rattled in the bottom half. A single from Ian Kobernick followed by David Kracht reaching on an error and a Jack Clark single loaded the bases with no outs.

After a visit to the mound from Adrian's head coach Craig Rainey, VanKoevering drew a five pitch walk bringing Kobernick in to score the winning run.

Kracht ended game two with two runs, two hits and an RBI. Six other Hornets picked up hits in the final game of the series.

Kalamazoo, now 10-6-1 overall and 6-2 in the MIAA, will continue its season this Friday when it begins a four-game series with Hope. Game one is set to begin at 2 p.m. in Holland.
