KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In the first two games of the final regular season series, Kalamazoo College fell to Calvin College in both games of its doubleheader Friday afternoon at Woodworth Field.

The Knights took game one, 3-2, and game two, 10-4.

Game One

Held scoreless through the first three frames, Kalamazoo broke through first in the bottom of the fourth. Josh Reuter singled through the left side of the infield scoring Mitchell VanKoevering.

After Calvin took the lead on a two run homer in the top of the fifth, the Hornets came right back and tied the game up in the bottom half on a sacrifice fly from David Kracht.

Calvin's Colton Wolfe hit his second home run of the game in the top of the seventh to give Calvin the definitive 3-2 lead.

Reuter and Jack Clark each ended game one with two hits to pace the Hornets' offense in game one.

Ryan Orr was charged with the loss despite earning a quality start.

Game Two

The Knights jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Kalamazoo clawed back in the bottom of the fourth and cut the deficit to 3-1.

Each team tacked on a run in the sixth inning but three run innings for the Knights in the seventh and eighth proved to be too large of a gap for the Hornets to close.

Brett Garwood recorded a team high two hits in game two going 2-for-3.

Four different Hornets recorded RBIs.

Kalamazoo will look to salvage a split with the Knights tomorrow afternoon. The first pitch of the doubleheader is schedule for 1 p.m.
