KALAMAZOO, Mich. – After recording a shutout in just his second start in his college career, Kalamazoo College baseball's Jacob Gilhaus was honored as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's pitcher of the week in an announcement from the league office Monday afternoon.

In the Hornets' final game of their spring break trip against Oberlin College in Tucson, Ariz., Gilhaus tossed seven innings of shutout baseball and didn't allow the Yeomen their first base runner until midway through the fourth inning.

Gilhaus ended his day giving up just three hits while striking out six as the Hornets improved to 7-2 on the season before the team began MIAA play at Albion on Monday.

A native of Bloomington, Ill., this is the first time in Gilhaus's young career he's been named the MIAA's pitcher of the week.
