KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College baseball team is receiving recognition once again for its contributions to the Kalamazoo-area community.

On Wednesday, April 26, the Hornets will be honored by the Communities in Schools (CIS) Champs organization for the team's commitment to Kalamazoo Public Schools. Hornet ballplayers meet with students on a regular basis throughout the academic year, serving as role models for many students across Kalamazoo.

The Hornets previously received national recognition for their commitment to the community when the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators and Jostens gave the program honorable mention acknowledgement in its "array of projects" category.

Along with working with Kalamazoo Public Schools, the baseball program also partners with Bronson Children's Hospital, the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, House of Hope and Special Olympics of Michigan.
