KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College baseball team took care of business Sunday afternoon securing a four-game sweep of Olivet College with a 5-2 win in game one and a 16-3 win in game two of the day's doubleheader.

With both teams limited in the first two innings of game one, the Hornets made the breakthrough in the bottom of the third scoring three runs with RBIs from Todd Bonnivier, Jordan Wiley and Ian Kobernick.

The Comets got a run back in the top of the fifth but K countered immediately on a Connor Grant two-run double to right center in the bottom half increasing the Hornet lead to 5-1.

Jacob Gilhaus earned the win on the mound for K tossing 4 and 2/3 innings giving up just one run.

Ryan Orr, Jack Clark and Bonnivier each ended the first game with two hits apiece for Kalamazoo.

The Hornet bats continued to stay hot in game two as Mitch VanKoevering got the run-scoring party started in the bottom of the second with a solo shot to left. K closed out the second inning up 4-0.

Tacking on a single run in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings, Kalamazoo's bats put the game out of reach in the seventh and eighth as the Hornets combined for nine runs in their final two innings at the plate.

Kobernick and Clark recorded three-hit games while VanKovering and Orr each ended game two with two hits.

Nic Janssen provided a strong effort on the bump for K, lasting six innings while scattering six hits and giving up a single run.

The Hornets now hold a 14-6 MIAA record with eight games remaining in league play. Before resuming league play on April 29 at Alma, the Hornets will head to Ohio Northern on Tuesday, April 25 for a non-conference doubleheader.
