Baseball comes up short at Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College baseball team played a non-conference doubleheader at Ohio Northern University on Tuesday.

The host Polar Bears won the opener 3-1 while outhitting the Hornets 8-5.

Kalamazoo trailed 3-0 entering the ninth inning. The Hornets put multiple runners on base and scored one run but ended the game with runners stranded on first and second.

Jordan Wiley, Ryan Orr, Ian Kobernick, Jack Clark and Todd Bonnivier each had a hit in the game.

Ohio Northern won the second game 4-3.

Kalamazoo took a 1-0 lead in the third on Ian Kobernick's RBI single. The lead held until the bottom of the fifth when Ohio Northern scored three runs. The Polar Bears added a run in the sixth to take a 4-1.

Kalamazoo scored again in the seventh to make it 4-2 which is what the score remained as the Hornets headed to the ninth. Kobernick homered with two outs to make it a one-run game. Ohio Northern changed pitchers and recorded the final out.

Ian Kobernick finished 3-for-5 in the game with two RBIs. Jordan Wiley had a pair of hits with three stolen bases.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 29 at Alma.
