RICHMOND, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team scored four runs in the top of the ninth to come from behind and win 7-5 in the Hornets' season opener at Earlham College on Saturday.

Kalamazoo trailed 5-3 going into the top of the ninth inning. Noah Hecht's double drove in one run before Brendan Gausselin's RBI groundout tied the game. Kalamazoo then took advantage of four straight walks to plate two runs to take the lead. Earlham got a runner on with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but a groundout to the pitcher ended the game in favor of the Hornets.

Kalamazoo started the scoring in the top of the first when Jordan Wiley singled, stole second, and scored on a Stefan Leclerc double.

Earlham tied the score with a run in the third. Kalamazoo took a one run lead again in the fifth, but a 3-run double and another run put the host Quakers up 5-2.

Kalamazoo made it 5-3 in the eighth before scoring four runs in the ninth to win the game.

Kalamazoo recorded 12 hits in the game while limiting Earlham to four hits.

Jordan Wiley, Chase Coselman, Amani Karim, and Zach Prystash each had two hits.

Stefan Leclerc had a double and two RBIs. Noah Hect and Brendan Gausselin also doubled in the game.

Due to weather moving into the area the two teams played a single game on Saturday. They are now scheduled to play a doubleheader Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
