Baseball Falls at Earlham

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost 2-1 and 11-7 at Earlham College on Sunday.

Game One

Earlham scored two unearned runs in the third and that was enough to hold off Kalamazoo 2-1 in Sunday's opener. 

Noah Hecht drove in Kalamazoo's only run on a groundout in the top of the sixth. The Hornets put two runners on in the seventh and eighth innings but were unable to score.

Kalamazoo had seven hits in the game compared to three for Earlham.

Chase Coselman and Austin Duff both had two hits. Alex Fultz had a double.

Game Two

Earlham scored three runs in the first inning and used a seven-run fifth inning to lead 11-1 after five. Kalamazoo still trailed by 10 entering the ninth inning before rallying for six runs, but coming up short in the 11-7 defeat.

Earlham had nine hits compared to eight for Kalamazoo.

Eight different Hornets had a hit in the game. Chase Coselman and Spencer Baldwin each had a double.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to return to action Thursday, March 21 in the MIAA opening doubleheader at Trine.
