Baseball Splits Doubleheader With Trine

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team split a doubleheader with Trine at Woodworth field Tuesday. Kalamazoo won the opener 7-3 before dropping the series finale 8-5.

Game One

Trine took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second before Kalamazoo scored three runs in the bottom of the inning highlighted by an RBI single by Doug Propson and a 2-run single by Jordan Wiley.

Wiley drove in another run in the fourth to give Kalamazoo a 4-1 lead, but the Thunder made it 4-2 with a run in the top of the fifth. 

Kalamazoo scored again in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI walk by Wiley.

Trine followed up with a run in the top of the sixth to make it 5-3 before Kalamazoo pushed two more runs across in the bottom half highlighted by Blake Bean's RBI triple. 

Parker Sisovsky struck out five in six innings to earn the win while Doug Propson pitched the final inning. 

Jordan Wiley finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs. 

Noah Hecht and Ryan Morgan each had two hits.

Alex Fultz had a double while Blake Bean tripled in his only at bat.

Game Two

Kalamazoo led 5-1 after six innings. Trine scored two in the top of the seventh before Max Novick came in and struck out two batters with the bases loaded to end the inning.

After a scoreless eighth Trine rallied for five runs in the top of the ninth to take an 8-5 lead. The Hornets had two runners on with no outs in the bottom of the ninth before Trine closed the door with three straight outs to end the game.

Ryan Morgan had three hits in the game with two stolen bases and an RBI.

Doug Propson had two hits including a double and two runs scored. Jordan Wiley had a double, stolen base, and two runs scored.

Kalamazoo is back in action at home Saturday, April 12 with a doubleheader against Albion beginning at 1 p.m.
