ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost 9-5 and 8-7 at Trine on Monday.
Game One
Trine overcame a four-run deficit in the first inning to defeat Kalamazoo 9-5. Blake Bean led off the game with a home run to left center. After scoring another run, Spencer Baldwin hit a two-run home run to left field giving the Hornets a four-run advantage in the first.
Trine evened the score with four runs in the bottom of the second and pulled ahead with a run in the fourth. Kalamazoo evened the score at 5-5 in the top of the fifth before Trine scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings leading to the 9-5 final.
Trine had 13 hits in the game compared to 10 by Kalamazoo.
Blake Bean was 3-for-4 with a home run. Spencer Baldwin had a two-run home run. Chase Coselman was 2-for-2 with a double. Harrison Poeszat and Ryan Morgan each had a double.
Game Two
Trine defeated Kalamazoo 8-7 in the series finale. Kalamazoo led 2-1 after three innings, 4-1 after four, and 6-1 after the top of the fifth. Trine scored four in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 6-5 game. The Thunder pulled ahead 7-6 with two runs in the sixth. Kalamazoo tied it up again in the seventh before Trine scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh.
Doug Propson had two hits including a home run and two RBIs. Chase Coselman also had two hits. Spencer Baldwin also hit a home run and had two RBIs.
