Baseball Sweeps Albion in Home Doubleheader

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team swept Albion in a doubleheader at Woodworth Field on Sunday. Kalamazoo won the opener, 14-7, before completing the sweep and winning the series with a 15-7 win in game two.

Game One

Kalamazoo defeated Albion 14-7 in the opener. Albion led 6-3 after two innings. Kalamazoo scored six in the third, three in the fourth, and two in the sixth to take a 14-6 lead. Albion scored one run in the seventh leading to the 14-7 final.

Kalamazoo had 11 hits in the game compared to nine by Albion.

Blake Bean was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run. He also drove in five runs while scoring four.

Spencer Baldwin and Harrison Poeszat each had two hits. Baldwin had two RBIs.

Chase Coselman had a double and three RBIs. Ben Chosid also had a double.

Parker Sisovsky earned the win with three strikeouts in four innings pitched. The bullpen allowed just one run over the final three innings.

Game Two

Kalamazoo scored in each of its six innings at the plate, including multiple runs in the first, second, fourth, and sixth. After putting up five runs in the first, Kalamazoo led 7-3 after two innings. Kalamazoo led 11-4 after the fourth and 15-7 after the sixth leading to the final score.

Kalamazoo had 18 hits compared to 13 by Albion.

Spencer Baldwin had three hits and four RBIs. Harrison Poeszat had three hits with three RBIs.

Blake Bean, Doug Propson, Chase Coselman, and Ryan Morgan each had two hits.

Ryan Morgan homered in the game while Ben Chosid had a triple. The Hornets had seven doubles in the game.

Doug Propson struck out six in three innings of relief while picking up the win. Cade Thune struck out two in a scoreless seventh.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to host Olivet in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 21 beginning at 2 p.m.
