TUCSON, Ariz. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost its first game in Arizona 15-8 to Augsburg University on Thursday.
After taking a 2-0 lead in the second, Augsburg scored five in the bottom of the second and five in the bottom of the fourth to take a 10-2 lead. The Hornets cut it to 10-5 in the fifth, but three more by Augsburg in the bottom half began to put the game out of reach as the Hornets allowed eight unearned runs on seven errors in the game.
Kalamazoo had 15 hits compared to 14 by Augsburg.
Harrison Poeszat was 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
Blake Bean, Doug Propson, Noah Hecht and Max Gordon each had two hits. Gordon had a home run, while Bean doubled.
Kalamazoo and Augsburg square off again Friday with a 3:30 p.m. Eastern start time.
