KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team defeated Hope 6-5 in 13 innings at Woodworth Field Tuesday afternoon/evening.

The Hornets led 5-2 after five innings, but the Flying Dutchmen tied it with three runs in the seventh and eighth.

In the bottom of the 13th, relief pitcher Brenden Oprinski hit for himself and was hit-by-pitch to lead off the inning. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Doug Propson. Spencer Baldwin was intentionally walked, and both runners advanced on a passed ball. Following a Noah Hecht walk to load the bases, Harrison Poeszat drove in the game-winner with a sacrifice fly to right.

Each team had nine hits in the game.

Lukas Bolton led the Hornets with three hits. Noah Hecht and David Stechow each had two hits.

Hecht, Propson and Bolton each had a double. Propson drove in two runs.

Kalamazoo used seven pitchers in the game. Oprinski threw the final two innings, striking out two and not allowing a hit or a walk to earn the win.

Kalamazoo returns to action Saturday, April 9 with a doubleheader at Trine scheduled for 1 p.m.
