Jacob Davis of the Kalamazoo College baseball team was selected as the MIAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday (Mar. 13). This is the first time in his career that the sophomore has collected player of the week honors.

The baseball team played Elmhurst in a neutral site doubleheader after weather pushed back the Hornets' home opener. On Mar. 11 in Westfield, Ind., Kalamazoo swept the Bluejays by the scores of 7-3 and 5-0.

Davis was the game two starter on the hill and threw a complete game shutout. Davis allowed just five hits in seven innings, with three being singles and two doubles. He also struck out four hitters, induced 10 groundouts, and forced seven flyouts. This was Davis' first career win and complete game shutout as a Hornet.

Davis has three appearances and one start so far this season and has not allowed a run in 11 innings of work. He has allowed seven hits and a walk while striking out 10. In 21 career innings, Davis has totaled 26 strikeouts compared to four walks.

Kalamazoo will begin its spring break trip with a neutral site game against Otterbein in Marietta, Ohio, on Thursday (Mar. 16).
