Dylan Zerki, a freshman from Waterford (Orchard Lake St. Mary's HS), was selected as the MIAA Defensive Football Player of the Week on Monday.
Zerki had nine tackles, including two for losses, forced a fumble and had a sack as the Hornets edged Manchester (Ind.) University 18-16 in four overtimes on Saturday. Eight of Zerki's tackles were solo stops. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Kalamazoo College is 2-0 on the season. The Hornets play next at Lakeland (Wis.) College on Saturday, Sept. 15.
