Three Kalamazoo College football players helped lift Team Stars & Stripes to a 29-7 win at the 2013 Tazón de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) in Mexico on Saturday, Dec. 21.
Team Stars & Stripes is comprised of the top seniors in NCAA Division III and the team travels annually to face the Mexican team CONADEIP All-Stars.
Ryan Gregory, Jake Larioza, and Josh Wise were each selected to compete for Team Stars & Stripes in 2013 after helping Kalamazoo College to a 6-4 record and a tie for second place in the MIAA.
Larioza, a defensive end for Kalamazoo College, converted to tight end/wide receiver for this game and showed his versatility by catching three passes for 29 yards, including one for an 11-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter to put his team up 23-7.
Wise, an All-MIAA First Team receiver this season, shared the team lead with five catches today for a total of 50 yards, including a game-high 25 yard reception early in the third quarter.
Gregory, an All-MIAA Second Team defensive back this season, was credited with one solo tackle in today's game.
