Football falls to Adrian on Senior Day

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College football team lost its home finale 35-7 to Adrian College on Senior Day at Angell Field.

Adrian led 7-0 after a balanced first quarter of play. The Bulldogs went up 14-0 just four seconds into the second quarter. Kalamazoo responded on its next drive with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Alex White to Cameron Shegos on a scoring drive that went 80 yards in eight plays.

After leading 14-7 at halftime, Adrian came out in the third quarter and scored on a 54-yard run with 8:51 left and followed up with a 4-yard run just three minutes later to take a 28-7 lead. The Bulldogs added another touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to gain the 35-7 advantage.

Adrian gained 390 yards of total offense, including 274 yards on the ground. Kalamazoo had 318 total yards, 225 in the air and 93 on the ground. Kalamazoo turned the ball over three times on fumbles and twice on interceptions which led to 21 points by the Bulldogs. Adrian lost one fumble and did not throw an interception.

Alex White was 17-of-32 passing for 202 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Cameron Shegos made six catches for 62 yards with a touchdown. Alex Dietrich had five catches for 80 yards while Elijah Hamilton-Wray (43 yards) and Justin Rabidoux (23 yards) each made two catches.

Shon Powell led the rushing attack with 61 yards on 13 carries.

Dylan Zerki led the defense with 14 total tackles including one and a half for lost yards. Josiah Thomas made five tackles with two quarterback sacks.

Kalamazoo closes out the season at Hope College on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m.
