Kalamazoo College's Viet Nguyen was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.
A sophomore from Canton, Mich., Nguyen earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors after connecting on three field goals including the game-winner in a 16-13 victory at Millikin on Saturday. He connected on a 20-yard field goal in the second quarter to give the Hornets a 10-3 lead. Nguyen punched through another try with two ticks left in the first half from 32 yards out to knot the game at 13-all. He kicked the game-winning score from 34 yards to give Kalamazoo the win.
Kalamazoo (1-1) plays its home opener against Concordia (Ill.) this Saturday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m.
