Football falls at Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College football team lost its final nonconference game of the season, 45-10, at Benedictine University on Saturday.

The host Eagles scored a pair of touchdowns in each of the first two quarters to take a 25-0 lead into halftime.

Benedictine led 38-0 late in the third before Kalamazoo returned a blocked punt 15 yards for a touchdown to make it 38-7. Benedictine scored again in the fourth quarter while Viet Nguyen hit a 27-yard field goal with two minutes remaining to make it 45-10.

Alex White was 9-of-28 passing for 68 yards with an interception. White also rushed for 41 yards on eight carries. Brock Rucinski was 6-of-13 passing for 76 yards.

Clay Wilkey gained 32 yards on six carries with a team high three receptions for an additional 25 yards.

Mason Sarosi led the receivers with 46 yards on two catches.

Quentin Sweeney led the defense with 11 total tackles while Ronnie Russell finished with 10. BJ Smith had an interception.

Kalamazoo opens MIAA play next week at home against Albion College at 1 p.m.
