Kalamazoo College's Octavius Sanders was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
A senior from Detroit, Sanders returned a pair of crucial "pick six" interceptions for touchdowns in Kalamazoo's 39-31 win over Hope on Saturday. Sanders returned an interception 98 yards for a touchdown as time expired in the first half to cut the Flying Dutchmen's lead to 10. He later scored the Hornets' final touchdown with a 28-yard interception return late in the fourth. Sanders also posted two tackles and returned three punts for a total of 27 yards in the game.
