Football defeated 31-6 at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College football team lost 31-6 to Hope College in the "Wooden Shoes" game on Saturday. Kalamazoo won the last two meetings.

Kalamazoo turned the ball over on its first possession, but responded on Hope's first possession with a Sean Bauer interception returned 40 yards for a touchdown giving Kalamazoo the 6-0 advantage early.

Hope got on the board midway through the second quarter and took that 7-6 lead into halftime.

Hope scored early in the third to make it 14-6 and added another touchdown late in the quarter to go up 21-6. A fourth quarter touchdown and field goal led to the final score.

The Flying Dutchmen outgained Kalamazoo 438-258 with a seven minute advantage in time of possession.

Alex White finished 14-of-31 passing for 105 yards with an interception. Brock Rucinski was 4-of-8 for 49 yards.

Collin Feilla led the receivers with six catches for 56 yards. Seth Dexter caught three passes for 20 yards.

Jared Pittman gained 50 yards rushing on seven attempts while Lorenzo Redmond finished with 41 yards on 10 carries.

Jakob Frederick was credited with 14 tackles to lead the Hornet defense. Sean Bauer finished with 10.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Wisconsin Lutheran in non-conference play next Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m.
