Football lands three on All-MIAA team

Colin Feilla, Alex White, and Andrew Thiede are named to the All MIAA second team.

Three Kalamazoo College football players were named to the All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association second team Monday afternoon as selected by the coaches in an announcement from the league office.

Alex White and Collin Feilla were named to the conference's second team offense, while Andrew Thiede was named to the second team defense.

White, a junior quarterback from Litchfield, Mich., used both his legs and his arm guiding the Hornets' offense during the 2016 campaign. He threw for 2,256 yards and connected for 13 touchdowns through the air while also compiling 272 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

White stood out in the final game of the season against Albion as he tossed three TDs and ran for one score. He also recorded three games with at least 350 yards passing.

Feilla, a senior wide receiver from Bloomfield Hills, Mich., proved to be White's favorite target throughout the season. Feilla caught 55 balls for 833 yards and found the endzone five times. He recorded two 200-yard performances in 2016, including a 215-yard day against Alma in which he found the endzone two times.

Thiede, a defensive lineman from Sterling Heights, Mich., was the Hornets' most dominant presence in the trenches in 2016. He recorded team-highs in sacks (7.5) and tackles for a loss (8.5) while also breaking up four passes. His 46 tackles were fourth-most on the team and he forced two fumbles. Thiede's standout game of the season came at Olivet when he recorded nine total tackles and two sacks.

White, Feilla and Thiede are being honor for the first time as All-MIAA picks.

Kalamazoo concluded its season on Saturday, Nov. 12 with a 34-17 win over Albion at Angell Field.
