Kalamazoo College's Joe Piet was named the Defensive Player of the Week by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association for his performance in the Hornet's 23-7 win over Rockfrod on Saturday.
A senior from Evergreen Park, Ill. (Evergreen Park HS), Piet led the Hornets in sacks (2.5) this week as well as tackles for loss (3). Along with his tackles made in the backfield, Piet ended the game with 11 total tackles.
Following Saturday's win, Piet moved himself into a tie for third in sacks in the MIAA.
Kalamazoo (3-0) heads into its bye week this week before opening conference play with Adrian on September 29. The game against the Bulldogs is scheduled to kickoff at 1 p.m. at Angell Field.
