Angileri, Kearn, VanFaussien Earn Academic All-District Honors

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday that Hunter Angileri, Greg Kearns, and Zach VanFaussien of the Kalamazoo College football team were all named to the Academic All-District 6 Football Team. 

Angileri, a junior from Southgate, Mich. (Southgate Anderson HS), is a two year starter for the Hornets at the center position. He maintains a 3.89 cumulative GPA while majoring in chemistry. Angileri is a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member. Along with his success in the classroom, he was an anchor for an offensive line that contributed to 131.2 rushing yards per game and 307.4 total yards each week. 

Kicker Greg Kearns is the second Hornet named to the All-District Team. Kearns, a junior from Howell, Mich. (Howell HS), carries a 3.67 cumulative GPA in business. Kearns, like Angileri, is also a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll recipient. In his two years as the Kalamazoo kicker, Kearns has been named MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week three times. He led the Hornets in field goals (11), extra points (27) and points scored (60). 

The final member of the Academic All-District Team from Kalamazoo is quarterback Zach VanFaussien. A senior from Beverly Hills, Mich. (Wylie E. Groves HS), VanFaussien had a very successful first year as the Hornets' full-time quarterback. Along with his 3.65 GPA in economics, VanFaussien finished the 2018 season averaged 216.8 total yards per game including 173.2 per game in the air. His 23 total touchdowns were first on the team and his 19 passing TDs placed him third in the MIAA. VanFaussien has also been named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll two years in a row. 

CoSIDA District 6 includes NCAA Division III schools in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. All three Hornets will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
