Josh Nichols of the Kalamazoo College football team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Wednesday (Sept. 6).
Kalamazoo hosted Oberlin in its season opener on Sept. 2 and got a 42-10 win to begin 2023.
Nichols paced the team offensively by going 23-35 with 298 yards and five touchdowns, which ties a career-high for touchdowns thrown in a game. He finished the game with a 65.7% completion percentage and had a long of 39 yards. Nichols also added three rushes for 17 yards on the ground.
The senior has played in 21 games, throwing for 3,661 yards on a 53.5% completion percentage with 30 touchdowns. Nichols was also named the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.
The Hornets will hit the road for the first time this season by traveling to Kenyon on Saturday (Sept. 9).
