Jon Brunette of the Kalamazoo College football team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Wednesday (Sept. 13).
Kalamazoo traveled to Kenyon for its first road game on Sept. 9 and moved to 2-0 with a 48-16 victory.
In a rushing attack that led to 121 yards against the Owls, Brunette had 91 of the yards on 13 rushes. He scored twice, the first being at 13:04 in the first quarter and then the second at the 4:39 mark in the third quarter. He also had three catches for 16 yards in the receiving game. Brunette eclipsed his career-high rushing yards by 37 and tied a career-high with two touchdowns.
Brunette was the returning leading rusher for the Hornets from 2022 and the senior has played in 23 games so far in his career. In those 23 games, he has rushed the ball 213 times for 675 yards and seven touchdowns. He also has 39 catches for 249 yards and two touchdowns.
The Hornets will return to Angell Field to take on Defiance on Saturday (Sept. 16).
