Ian Burr of the Kalamazoo College football team was honored as the MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday (Oct. 2). This is the second time this season that Burr has been named a player of the week and the fourth time in his four-year career.
Kalamazoo traveled to Albion in the MIAA opener on Sept. 30 and fell for the first time this season 44-17.
Burr handled the kickoff, punting, and field goal duties for the Hornets this past weekend. He averaged 56.6 yards per kick for 283 yards and two touchbacks in five kickoffs. In the punting game, Burr totaled 250 yards on six punts for 41.7 yards per punt and a long of 51 yards. He was perfect in his field goal attempts by making all three attempts with distances of 46, 40, and 19 yards. On the season, Burr is four-fo-four in field goal attempts, with his long being the 46-yard attempt this past week. He has also made all three extra point attempts taken this season.
The Hornets return home to play Olivet on homecoming weekend on Saturday (Oct. 7).
