Football Falls at #15 Alma

ALMA, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College football team was defeated 43-10 at No. 15 Alma College Saturday afternoon.

The host Scots scored on their first drive and led 15-0 after the first quarter. Alma went up 22-0 early in the second before Ian Burr's 47-yard field goal put Kalamazoo on the board. Alma took the 22-3 lead into halftime.

Alma scored twice in the third quarter and again early in the fourth. Riley Sheldon scored on a 2-yard pass from Josh Nichols midway through the fourth to complete the scoring.

Alma put up 655 yards of total offense compared to 338 by Kalamazoo. 

Josh Nichols was 25-of-41 passing for 224 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Sheldon Riley rushed for 50 yards on eight carries. Conner Bell had 39 yards on eight carries. Jon Brunette ran for 31 yards on 10 carries.

Lucas Hanifan pulled in five catches for 77 yards. Hunter Kiesling had six catches for 58 yards. Andrew Durbin finished with four catches for 26 yards.

Tommy Kartes led the Hornet defense with 15 total tackles, including one for loss, and two forced fumbles.

Corey Garrison made 11 tackles. Ronnie Spencer forced a fumble. Lucas Geer had an interception.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Hope College next Saturday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m.
