Ian Burr of the Kalamazoo College football team was selected as the MIAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday (Oct. 23). This is the third time this season that Burr has been named a player of the week and the fifth time in his four-year career.
Kalamazoo traveled to #15 Alma to continue MIAA play on Oct. 21, falling 43-10.
Burr handled the kickoff, punting, and field goal duties for the Hornets this past weekend. He averaged 60.0 yards per kick for 180 yards and a touchback in three kickoffs. In the punting game, Burr totaled 290 yards on seven punts for 41.4 yards per punt, three that ended up inside the 20-yard line, and a long of 54 yards. He was one-for-two in field goal attempts, making a 47-yard field goal to open the scoring for the Hornets. On the season, Burr is six-for-eight in field goal attempts, with his long being the 47-yard attempt this past week. He has also made all three extra point attempts taken this season. On 37 punts this season, Burr is averaging 37.1 yards per punt, with a long of 55, nine being inside the 20-yard line, six being fair caught, and two resulting in touchbacks.
The Hornets return home to play Hope on senior day on Saturday (Oct. 28).
