Kalamazoo College men's basketball senior Mark Ghafari received All-Region honors from d3hoops.com Monday, Mar. 17. Ghafari earned a spot on the Great Lakes Region Third Team along with Jaron Crowe (Baldwin Wallace), Branden Rushton (Ohio Northern), Reuel Rogers (Ohio Wesleyan), and Jordan Brink (Calvin).

Ghafari averaged 24 points per game during his senior season. The Grosse Pointe Shores native broke numerous school records such as free throws made in a game (23), consecutive free throws made (18), and free throws attempted in a game (24). Ghafari cemented his name atop the Kalamazoo record books with his 46-point performance in his final collegiate game at Alma. The scoring outburst broke John Shelske's 44 point game against Olivet in 1981. For his efforts, Ghafari was named MIAA Player of the Week three times.

"Mark [Ghafari] deserves every award he receives," Kalamazoo Head Coach Eric Dougal said. "He has been a leader for our team on and off the court."

Kalamazoo finished the season with a 10-15 record overall including a sixth place finish in the MIAA with a conference record of 5-9.
