SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Playing its second game in as many days, the Kalamazoo College men's basketball team came away empty handed as the Hornets squared off against Trinity University, the hosting team of the tournament in San Antonio, Texas.

The Tigers defeated the Hornets, 81-64.

Early in the first half, Kalamazoo seemingly felt the effects of playing a back-to-back as Trinity broke out to 19-5 lead in the first 5:20 of play.

Fighting to get back into the game, the Hornets cut the deficit to 10 with 10:41 remaining in the half but that's as close as the Hornets would get before Trinity took a 46-26 lead into halftime.

The Hornets looked to regroup at the beginning of the second half, but the Tigers proved to be too much as they extended their lead to 29 in the first three minutes of the second half.

Trinity's 53 percent shooting was ultimately too much for Kalamazoo to handle down the stretch.

The Hornets were held to just 34 percent shooting from the floor, but did force the Tigers to turn the ball over 16 times.

Kalamazoo outrebounded Trinity, 44-34.

Chase Baysdell led the way for Kalamazoo coming up just short of a double-double, scoring 11 points and corralling nine rebounds.

Alex Dykema ended the game with nine points, while Jimmy Paprocki scored eight and Jake and Josh Whitney added seven apiece.

Kalamazoo will return to action on Dec. 29 at Case Western after the NCAA holiday break.
