CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team hoped to come away with a win to end the Bill Sudeck Holiday Tournament, but the Hornets ran into a strong side from Wheaton College.

The Thunder defeated the Hornets, 90-64.

Early in the first half, Kalamazoo looked up to the task of bring down the Thunder as the Hornets gained a 5-4 lead on a three pointer from Adam Dykema at the 17:23 mark.

Kalamazoo continued to lead throughout the first half until Wheaton took a 29-27 lead with 5:28 remaining in the half.

The Thunder ended the half on a 21-9 run from that point and carried a 50-36 lead into halftime.

Kalamazoo managed to cut the Wheaton lead to 10 at the 17:40 mark of the second half off of two free throws from Jimmy Paprocki, but that's as close as the Hornets would get as the Thunder proved to be too much down the stretch.

Wheaton managed to hold the high scoring offense of Kalamazoo to 34 percent shooting from the floor.

Chase Baysdell paced the Hornets offensively and on the glass as he recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds, both team-highs. He was named to the all-tournament team for his efforts in the past two games.

Demarco Dickerson provided a spark for Kalamazoo off the bench scoring 15 points and bringing in six rebounds.

Adama Dykema also scored in double figures for Kalamazoo scoring 13.

Kalamazoo will conclude its eight-game road trip on Sunday, Jan. 3 when the Hornets travel to St. Joseph's. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
