Dickerson scores career-high 30 points in loss at Albion

ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost 83-67 at Albion College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play on Wednesday.

Kalamazoo trailed by just two points (36-34) with 2:37 left in the first half before the host Britons scored the final six points to take a 42-34 lead into halftime.

Albion scored the first seven points of the second half to take a 49-34 lead, but Kalamazoo battled back to make it a seven point game (51-44) with 15:11 remaining. Albion quickly made it a ten point game again and led by double digits the rest of the way. Kalamazoo was still within ten (59-49) with 10:57 remaining, but could not get any closer before time expired.

Kalamazoo shot 46.6 percent compared to 45. 8 percent for Albion, but the Hornets turned the ball over 16 times compared to nine for the Britons. Albion also held a 44-34 advantage in rebounds, including 14-8 on the offensive end.

Demarco Dickerson led Kalamazoo with 30 points, including 22 in the first half. He finished 12-of-18 overall and 4-of-8 from 3-point range along with two free throws. The freshman also shared the team lead with seven rebounds.

Mike Oravetz finished with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting with four assists and two steals. Chase Baysdell added 12 points with seven rebounds. Josh Whitney chipped in seven points with six rebounds.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Olivet on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 3 p.m.
