Men's Basketball narrowly defeated at No. 15 Alma

ALMA, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost 85-80 at No. 15 Alma College on Saturday.

Kalamazoo led by as many as eight points (20-12) in the first half before taking a 44-41 lead into halftime.

Alma opened the second half with a 14-2 run to take a 55-46 lead, but Kalamazoo battled back with an 18-4 run to regain the lead 64-59 with 12:02 remaining. Kalamazoo led by as many as six (69-63) with 9:14 left before the host Scots scored the next six points to even the score.

Kalamazoo led again (77-75) at the 4:40 mark, but the Hornets made just 1-of-9 shots down the stretch as Alma regained the lead and escaped with the win.

Kalamazoo shot 47 percent from the field while hitting 11-of-25 3-pointers. Alma shot 50.8 percent overall while also hitting 11-of-25 3's. The Scots made 14-of-20 free throws compared to 7-of-13 for the Hornets. Kalamazoo held a 36-33 advantage in rebounds, including 8-3 on the offensive end.

Adam Dykema led Kalamazoo with 17 points and five rebounds while hitting 5-of-9 3-pointers.

Chase Baysdell recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds with five assists.

Tommy Cerven scored 14 points while making 4-of-7 3's. Josh Miller finished with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Demarco Dickerson scored eight points with five rebounds and seven assists.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Trine on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m.
