KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team came within seconds of breaking into the MIAA win column, but a key basket down the stretch from the Albion College Britons proved to be the difference maker in the Hornets 67-66 defeat Wednesday evening.

The first half, marked by three technical fouls, got off to a strong start for the Hornets as Josh Whitney gave Kalamazoo an 8-4 lead at the 14:26 mark.

Albion managed to work its way back into the lead and held a 35-29 halftime advantage. The Britons extended their lead to as large as 12 in the second half with 5:52 to play but the Hornets never quit.

Rattling off a 16-3 run over the next five minutes of play, Kalamazoo regained the lead on two Whitney free throws, but a Jason Zahran layup for Albion with 21 seconds clinched the win for Albion.

Josh Miller and Ben Reiter each ended the evening with 12 points to lead K offensively. Whitney also scored in double figures, recording 10 points.

Kalamazoo will hit the road this Saturday for a 5:30 p.m. tip at Olivet College.
