Miller records double-double in loss to Alma

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - A second half comeback effort came up short for the Kalamazoo College men's basketball team in a 65-54 loss to Alma College on Saturday.

Alma led by as many as 14 points (29-15) in the first half before taking a 37-28 lead into halftime.

Kalamazoo chipped away in the second half and cut the deficit to four (42-38) with 12:26 remaining. The Hornets trailed by three points (50-47) at the 7:08 mark and again (52-49) with 5:21 remaining, but could not get any closer before time expired.

Alma shot 34.8 percent overall compared to 33.9 percent for Kalamazoo. The Scots sank 26-of-30 free throws while the Hornets made 11-of-16. Kalamazoo outrebounded Alma 42-31, including 12-1 on the offensive end.

Josh Miller scored 12 points with 10 rebounds and three blocked shots to lead Kalamazoo. 

Chase Baysdell finished with eight points and five rebounds. Ben Reiter scored seven points while Tanner Blyly and Jimmy Paprocki each scored six.

Kalamazoo hits the road for a pair of games next week, traveling to Trine on Wednesday and Albion on Saturday.
