Men's Basketball holds on to defeat Case Western

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team defeated Case Western Reserve University 66-64 inside Anderson Athletic Center on Saturday.

The Hornets scored 12 of the game's first 13 points and led by as many as 16 (23-7) at the 11:23 mark of the first half. The visiting Spartans cut the lead to five (35-30) with 1:00 remaining, but Kalamazoo scored five straight points to take a 40-30 lead into halftime.

Case made it a 42-40 game at 16:29 in the second half, and kept the score within seven points the rest of the game. Case hit a pair of free throws to make it 65-64 with 25 seconds remaining. Kalamazoo's Ben Reiter sank a free throw to go up 66-64, and the Spartans' 3-point attempt in the closing seconds missed the mark.

Kalamazoo shot 48.1 percent overall while Case was held to 32.1 percent. The Hornets made 7-of-12 free throws compared to 18-of-26 for the Spartans. Case held a 38-34 advantage in rebounds, including 17-10 on the offensive end.

Ben Reiter led Kalamazoo with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting with three 3's. Jimmy Paprocki added 12 points with six rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Jeremiah Vincent scored all 11 of his points in the first half while finishing with six rebounds. Tanner Blyly was the fourth Hornet in double figures with 10 points and three assists.

Kalamazoo returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 12 with a non-conference game at Concordia (Ill.).
