Vincent's Career-High 31 Points Lead Kalamazoo Over Alma

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team picked up a 92-82 overtime win against Alma in an MIAA contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets began the game by connecting on four of their first five shots to get out to an early 11-2 lead. Alma was able to cut down the deficit and tie the game up at 21 with just over 10 minutes to play in the half. 

Kalamazoo used a 10 to one run in the final three minutes of the first half to get out to its largest lead of the first half and take 49-38 advantage into the break.

Tanner Blyly's three-pointer with just under 17 minutes left in the second half got Kalamazoo out to a 16 point lead which was its largest of the game. 

Alma, however, came back by connecting on 43.8 percent (14-32) of its shots in the second half and holding the Hornets to nine for 30 in that span to force the game into overtime.

Kalamazoo's resilient defense in overtime proved to be too much for the Scots as they held Alma to one for eight shooting. The Hornets outscored the Scots 14-4 in the overtime period to seal the victory.

The Hornets finished the game shooting 45.7 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the three-point line.

Jeremiah Vincent led the way on the offensive end with a career-high 31 points. Vincent also collected a team-high seven rebounds.

Ben Reiter added 25 points for Kalamazoo on eight of 13 shooting.

Tanner Blyly put in another strong performance with 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists. 

Kalamazoo will return to play on Wednesday, Jan. 30 as they host Hope College at 7:30 p.m.
