The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team had Lukas Broadsword selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday (Feb. 21).
To be selected for the award, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have played at least 50% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Broadsword started in every game when healthy and played in 18 of the 25 games this season. He was the third-leading scorer at 10.3 points per game while playing 26.0 minutes a night. Broadsword led the team with a 46.6% field goal percentage with nine double-figure games. In addition, he had 5.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game. Broadsword he one double-double this season with a 13-point and 10-rebound effort against Adrian on Feb. 11. Currently majoring in business, he holds a cumulative GPA of 3.55.
Now that Broadsword has made the district team, he will move on to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in March.
