Lukas Broadsword of the Kalamazoo College men's basketball team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Dec. 5).
Kalamazoo continued its season with two home games against Manchester on Nov. 27 and Chicago on Nov. 29 before traveling to #9 Case Western on Dec. 2. The Hornets extended their winning streak to five in a row with an 83-72 win over the Tigers before dropping two games to the Maroons (67-63) and the Spartans (100-73).
Broadsword did it all for the Hornets in the three games, leading the team with 19 rebounds and 12 assists while being the third-leading scorer with 32 points. He shot 58.3% from the field and only committed two turnovers. He had a season-high six assists and tied his season-high with 13 points against #9 CWRU. Starting in all eight games so far this season, Broadsword is averaging 10.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists while playing 25.1 minutes per game. As a junior, he has started in all 50 games he has played, averaging 10.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.
The Hornets will continue their season with a single road game at Lake Forest on Wednesday (Dec. 6).
