Ty Horky of the Kalamazoo College men's basketball team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Wednesday (Dec. 20).
Kalamazoo continued its season with two non-conference games in California against Redlands on Dec. 18 and Cal Lutheran on Dec. 19. Unfortunately, the Hornets fell in both instances, 101-58 to the Bulldogs and 86-49 to the Kingsmen.
Horky scored 27 points in the two contests, which is good for 13.5 points per game. Five of his nine field goals came from beyond the arc, and he added another four free throws. Horky also totaled five rebounds, four assists, and a steal. Through the first 11 games of the season, Horky leads the MIAA in total points (195), field goals (67), and 3-pointers (27). On the season, his averages are 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 47.9% from the field, 40.9% from the 3-point line, and 77.3% from the free throw line.
The Hornets will continue their season after the holiday break when they begin MIAA play with a home game against Trine on Thursday (Jan. 4) and a road game at Calvin on Saturday (Jan. 6).
