Carter Bandemer of the Kalamazoo College men's basketball team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Jan. 23).
Kalamazoo continued its MIAA schedule with two home games against Olivet on Jan. 17 and Albion on Jan. 20. The Hornets went 1-1 on the week with a 78-75 win over the Comets and a 97-86 overtime loss against the Britons.
Bandemer averaged 25.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in two games last week while shooting 12-27 (44.4%) from three and 10-11 (90.9%) from the free throw line. He finished with 21 points and six rebounds against Olivet and then a career-high 29 points with seven threes against Albion. On the season, Bandemer is the team's second-leading scorer at 12.8 points per game, shooting 42.4% from the field, 39.5% from three, and 81.6% from the free throw line. He also averages 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game and has started all 17 games for the Hornets.
The Hornets will continue MIAA play with two road games at Adrian on Wednesday (Jan. 24) and Olivet on Saturday (Jan. 27).
