Lukas Broadsword of the Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 6).
Kalamazoo continued its MIAA schedule with a road game at Alma on Feb. 7 and a home game against #13 Calvin on Feb. 10. The Hornets sank two free throws with three seconds left to defeat the Scots 74-73 before losing to the Knights 83-63.
Broadsword had 12 points and seven rebounds in the win over Alma and in the game against Calvin while guarding the reigning D3hoops.com Rookie of the Year. He shot 58.8% from the field and added four assists, three blocks, and two steals. On the season, Broadsword is averaging 10.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game in 21 games while shooting 49.4% from the field.
Hornets will finish the regular season and MIAA play with a road game at #7 Trine on Wednesday (Feb. 14) and a home game against Adrian for senior day on Saturday (Feb. 17).
