Men's Basketball Seniors Honor Most Valuable Professors

The men's basketball team with their most valuable professors.

The 2023-24 Kalamazoo College men's basketball seniors have selected their Most Valuable Professors to recognize this season. These Most Valuable Professors were recognized before the home basketball game on Feb. 10.

The Hornets selected Professor Patrick Hultberg, Dr. Kyle Morrison, Professor Firth MacMillan, and Professor Amy MacMillan.

Alex Rueff selected Professor Patrick Hultberg from the Economics and Business Department as his MVP. Rueff chose Professor Hultberg because he has enjoyed each of his classes and has learned a lot from him. Rueff appreciates Professor Hultberg's concept of teaching, engaging attitude, and willingness to help students. Professor Hultberg creates a fun learning environment in his classes, something Rueff always looks forward to.

The next MVP was Dr. Kyle Morrison from the Physical Education Department, chosen by Bobby Samples. Kyle Morrison is also the head coach for the athletic department's men's and women's cross country teams. Samples picked Dr. Morrison because of how great of a leader and role model he has been for Samples. Dr. Morrison is very supportive, inciteful, and passionate about his teachings. Samples' favorite class was the nutrition seminar with Dr. Morrison because the information he learned equipped him to be a better athlete and take care of his body.

Gabriel Sharp picked Professor Firth MacMillan from the Art and Art History Department as his MVP. Unfortunately, Professor MacMillan was unable to attend, but Professor MacMillan was Sharp's SIP advisor, where Sharp progressed and explored different aspects of pottery. Pottery is an area that Sharp thoroughly enjoys, and he was very grateful that Professor MacMillan was helpful and accommodating during the process.

The final MVP was Professor Amy MacMillan from the Economics and Business Department, selected by Ty Horky and Sam Coleman. Throughout Horky's and Coleman's time at K, Professor MacMillan's classes were always the ones they looked forward to the most. Professor MacMillan genuinely enjoys the subject matter and always gives her students the opportunity to have real-life experiences within the business world. Horky and Coleman are very grateful for all the knowledge he gained in Professor MacMillan's classes and say K is lucky to have her.

On behalf of the athletic department, THANK YOU to these Most Valuable Professors for positively influencing our student-athletes. Your work is greatly appreciated!

Kalamazoo College senior athletes have the opportunity to recognize their Most Valuable Professors throughout the 2023-24 season.
