Men's Golf ninth at opening tournament

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's golf team finished ninth out of 14 four-year schools at the season-opening Lou Collins Memorial Tournament hosted by Olivet College at the Bedford Valley Country Club.

The Hornets shot 311 on Friday but slipped one spot in the standings after shooting 315 on Saturday.

Phil Ritchie tied for sixth overall in the tournament with a two-day score of 147 (74-73).

David Smith shot 77 both days for a total of 154.

Scott Manski (78-82--160) and Agron Ziberi (82-83--165) rounded out the top four for Kalamazoo.

The Hornets are scheduled to open conference play on Saturday, Sept. 6 with an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Alma at Pine River.
