Kalamazoo College's David Smith has been named to the 2015 Division III Ping All-Great Lakes Region Team as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Tuesday.
Smith is one of three MIAA players named to the 15-person All-Region team.
A sophomore from Highland, Mich. (Everest Collegiate), Smith was named to the All-MIAA First team for the second consecutive year after tying for third in the conference with a 74.6 league average. He shot 75.2 in all matches this season, and both marks are school records.
Smith is the first known golfer in school history to earn All-Region honors.
"What a great honor for David!" said Kalamazoo Head Coach Mitch Wilson. "He has worked hard and is already at the top of the K golf record books. The even better news is that he is hungry to continue to improve and lead our program to the next level. I am really looking forward to watching what he will accomplish in his next two years at K and beyond!"
